This, my fellow humans, is the best movie I’ve seen all year. If you read no further I at least wanted you to know that.
I’ve liked some parts about a lot of movies this year but this is honestly one of the only movies that I can call the whole package.
The acting was quality. It truly is the dawning age of the new generation of British actors.
Of course the big names lived up to their billing. The unfamiliar faces managed to pull their own weight. I’m not going to go into detail because everyone was delightful and I have no negatives.
The story was also great. Granted, it is a powerful true story. So yeah, it should be strong. And I know about the inaccuracies. They don’t detract.
Not only was the story worth paying for the script was pretty darn tight for how much they had to fit in. They paced the story well and concluded with the white text on black that seems necessary after all based on a true story movies. They gave us the information that was necessary for the conclusion but too much to include in the acting. It felt properly balanced.
No stupid directing choices were made. They let the story and acting drive the filming to the film’s betterment.
Verdict: This is my number one pick for movies of 2014. It’s heavy but worth it.
