Episode Review: Bachelorette, Season Andi, Recap

“The Journey So Far” is not even worth watching if you remotely paid attention to the previous episodes.

Feel free to look back at my reviews for episodes 1, 2, 3, and 4 instead. Yes, it does seem like we decided to skip 5. Read my review for episode 5 here now.

So, for some reason we have only seen 4 episodes and apparently we need a recap. We get to see the guys leave the limo. Does anyone really believe that the limo broke down so conveniently for Cody? It’s basically a cut down version of the episodes all over again. To weigh in on the Chris B. issue again, he is a player and a cad an a professional contestant who was likable on Emily’s season and plans to milk the little fan support he has left for every penny he can.

I will say I’m not mad to see the stripping again but the singing was even worse than I remember.

Guys she has kissed: Chris the farmer, JJ of the pants, Marcus, First Impression Rose Nick, Josh recently from Atlanta, Brian

I have decided that Andi’s listening face is really unfortunate. She juts out her bottom lip and narrows her eyes. But I really think she is listening and cares.

We get to see the unaired rose ceremony from episode 4 which makes me happy. Nick wins bonus points with his line, “If you wanna let it out I’ll listen.” Chris complains that he wanted to be the guy to get her but he wasn’t so he should deal with his failure to act. Guys get madeat Nick for doing it and I’m like, he did it first so deal with it. He was deserving of that moment with her because he did it instead of sitting around. There are 25 guys trying to win her heart so yes Nick was being kind of selfish by taking the opportunity but he is allowed to be. At the end, Andi isn’t going to appreciate the guy who wanted to come find her. It’s like the guy in the friend zone that complains that the girl never gives him the chance even though he hasn’t made a move. Annoying.

The moment of truth for Tasos comes. He gets a lot of hugs from the guys. Their parting was nice. Andi says she likes him so much as a person and she doesn’t want to lead him on. Tasos wipes a few tears away, says some nice things, and leaves.

We are going to the south of France next episode which Patrick and Andrew seem to really dig. Speaking of Andrew, we don’t see a single shred of that drama that was played with in the recap. They dangle some Andrew cussing scenes in front of us on the sneak peak at next week which could mean they are rewarding us for our patience, especially with this nothing episode. Or maybe we are just going to pretend nothing ever happened. And speaking of Patrick, HANDS OFF HE IS MINE! Although, I think he might kiss her next week and I might just hate her now.

See y’all next week hopefully.

9

I think I mentioned in another post that a lot of people seem to list them 11, 10, and I don’t really have a 3rd favorite. I think they miss the beauty of the 9th.

If you are confused let me clarify. This is a post about my appreciation of the 9th Doctor. “Doctor who?” you might ask. This post might not be for you.

11 is pretty. 10 has a huge emotional range. But 9, for all his cowardice, lives for others even when he doesn’t want to and even when they don’t deserve him.

I won’t go on and on about each episode or the arc as a whole (because frankly I think the “Bad Wolf” theme was poorly executed, especially in the final episode). I could explore the line, “Just this once everybody lives,” or his last words, “You were brilliant. And you know what? So was I,” but instead I want to focus on the moment of acting that speaks to who the Doctor is, what he thinks is important, and what he is willing to do to protect it. Warning, spoilers big time below. Continue reading

Part 2 of the drama. Let’s go to exotic Connecticut.

First 1-on-1: It’s Dylan. Do you guys call B.S. when the guy or girl who gets the date says that the activity is “awesome” when it is just a lame train? But my goodness…he does something we don’t hear a lot of. HE ASKED ANDI ABOUT STUFF like HER longest relationship. He did a good job carrying the conversation. HOLY…He is 26. He looks old. Have you noticed how many younger guys are on this season.

Folks, I was determined to be unimpressed by him and while I don’t see the chemistry I can’t help but regret my initial judgement.

Group Date: There is absolutely no way this is going to go horribly wrong. JJ wears a button up because…? And his shirt actually says “Jj” but I will cut him some slack because apparently he does clothing for a living. Andi wears some high-heeled sneakers that I kind of really want.

Is anyone surprised that the coach is naturally allowed to take over his team “Rosebuds” or that the personal trainer is into this competition? And “Five of Hearts” is obviously not supposed to be the natural shoo-in for winning. It’s Pants, Farmer, and Tasos for goodness sakes. And this isn’t an underdog story. Luckily a lot of her favorites are in that group. At least they get beer.

Marquel talks trash about cereal for some reason and now I really want Honey Comb, and Captain Crunch, and Lucky Charms, and Reese Puffs, and diabetes. Continue reading

aka: The episode we already kind of know the main events for because the “coming up next episode” segment gave us pretty good spoilers. 1 of 2.

If you are looking for spoilers this is probably not the best place. I’m not going to give projections. Google Reality Steve. He has every elimination until the end with details and pictures. The dude has proven himself as a source. I’m not even going to try to play in his arena. What you will get here is my own, often catty, opinions.

First 1-on-1 date: Nick (first impression rose) scores some points with me right off because he says, “I don’t know her and she doesn’t know me…what are the chances this is going to work out…but you never know.” Nothing earns my respect faster than having a clear view of reality, especially when guys are already thinking the word love and crying at elimination. Play a game with him: close your eyes when he talks. Do you see him pushing glasses up on his nose and wearing sweater vests? Lucky for him it comes off endearing awkward because he is decent looking. Continue reading

Episode Review: Bachelorette, Season Andi, Episode 2

See my review for episode 1.

“Who is ready to see some half-naked men?” This is going to be a great episode.

Date card 1: Eric gets a 1-on-1. Let’s be honest. The guy is dead so there is absolutely no way they are going to edit the show to make him out to be anything but amazing. But even if they didn’t have the whole “last moments of a man’s life” thing to deal with he seems legit. Remember, this is the guy with the job of “explorer.” His life gives him an advantage. There was no awkward first date silence, the guy is one amazing story after another. He isn’t like that one person at work that just got back from a guided tour of Rome and thinks they can do an accent. This guy is the real deal.

They build a sandcastle and he comes up with the adorable line, “We’ve already built our first home together.” And then he does an actual back flip. But it is obvious that he doesn’t win. First, he dies and well…we like being entertained by the problems of others but finding “true love” and then losing it and only having the show to watch over and over, seeing your relationship blossom, possibly being proposed to, having to do the “Men tell all” and “After the rose” segments…well that would be a little too brutal.

Then they snowboard and Eric further enforces the trust my inner fan girl has placed in him by being good at everything. I kind of feel like I’m crushing on a red shirt but I just can’t help it. They do little cutaways and Eric pretends to be nervous about whether he will get the rose or not. (I don’t believe for one moment that he actually didn’t know how much he charmed her.)
